Each year, our employees select local charities to receive the proceeds from our annual winter Snowman sales. Members may sponsor a paper snowman for a $1 or more donation. Dort Federal members continue to amaze us with their generosity. In 2012, our members and associates donated $15,900 during the holiday season. St. Vincent de Paul, Shelter of Flint, and Carriage Town Ministries shared the proceeds, each receiving $5,300.
St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers assistance to individuals in need. Assistance may include intervention, consultation, or financial help or in-kind service. The society’s mission is dedicated to providing help maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. They also serve as advocates for those who are defenseless or voiceless. Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society serve 12 million people a year here in the United States.
Shelter of Flint
The causes of homelessness are complicated and without an easy solution. The Shelter of Flint provides emergency, transitional and permanent supportive housing. Serving about 1,300 homeless adults and children each year through its programs, Shelter of Flint provides safe a place for families.
