Snowman Sales

Each year, our employees select local charities to receive the proceeds from our annual winter Snowman sales. Members may sponsor a paper snowman for a $1 or more donation. Dort Federal members continue to amaze us with their generosity. In 2013, members contributed over $14,000 to the Genesee County Humane Society, the American Legion of Lapeer, and the American Legion of Davison with each charity receiving a check for $4,823.61.

This year's Snowman Sales recipients are The Old Newsboys of Flint and The Mission of Hope. Below is information about the charities.

“Let No Child Be Forgotten” is the goal of the Old Newsboys, Inc. The Old Newsboys truly believe that Christmas is for children and that enjoying Christmas like his or her playmates may help a child grow up to be a good citizen. For over 90 years, the Old Newsboys have lived up to this motto by brightening the holidays of three-quarters of million needy children across Genesee County through great programs like their Christmas Program, Warm Hearts Health Starts Coat and Show Program and the Emergency Box Program. The mission of Mission of Hope is to provide a daytime warming center and other basic services such as “Warmth, Water, Wellness” to Flint’s homeless, poor, mentally ill as well as hard to serve adults; through community cooperation they provide these services in an atmosphere of dignity, hope and unconditional acceptance.
